My name is Jasper Blake Broomfield, I am a second year nurse on the FdSc Veterinary Nursing course, hoping to apply for the position of the course representative.
I have 4 dogs, 2 Labradors and 2 German Shepherds and absolutely love big dogs, nature and photography. I love travelling to new places (even if it can make me anxious!), camping and trying new recipes in the kitchen. My weekends currently look bleak due to being on placement, filled with laundry and shopping, but I do make time for the gym and outside of work I do several martial arts. I have done placements in both referral and first opinion practices and am really interested and hoping to specialise in anaesthesia. The attached picture is of myself and my sisters Labrador Corrie in one of the rare moments that we let her on the bed during a movie.
The reason why I'm applying is because I feel as if the vet nurses are slightly under-represented and am hoping to make people more aware of our course. This was particularly highlighted to me when vet students on EMS placements with me didn't know where the nurses lived! As such I'm hoping to highlight our role on campus, communicate the cohorts needs to administration and socialise more with other courses! I've had previous experience in these types of roles; being a student counsellor and a House Captain before I came to university and whilst here I've been an RVC ambassador working open days and giving campus tours.
